XpandedReports 4.0 comes with improved Computed Columns, and 8 new Time Tracking reports:

Computed Columns has under gone a complete rewrite to:

  • reduce user errors;
  • make it easier to find and use functions,
  • include additional functions for date, time, duration and text,
  • straightforward help with detail information and examples,
  • a new test feature to allow verification of the computed columns prior to adding to the report;
  • and gracefully handle error conditions such as divide by zero.

Computed column fixes and enhancements:

  • Added: New formula return types for true/false (Boolean), timestamp and duration.
  • Added: Display the type of the report column. When editing the Computed Column, the type of the column is displayed next to the column label (Text, Date, Number, etc..).
  • Added: Improved formula validation prior to adding a Computed Column to the report.  Displays a warning if the formula resulting type does not match the field type selected by the user.
  • Added: Function lookup for easier formula building. Make it easy for the user to find and select a formula to insert.
  • Added: Ability to select and add function arguments without typing the entire formula. This will reduce typing errors.
  • Added: Test feature to verify the new Computed Column prior to adding to the report. Can modify data and test in different scenarios to verify expected results.
  • Fix: Computed column screen blocks the view by staying on top of all windows.  The fixed screen only stays on top of XpandedReports application when in use.

    • Fix: Divide by 0 causes weird behavior or locks up the report. (Divide by 0 now returns an Infinity message).
    • Fix: Null values in the data causes weird behavior or locks up the report. (Better null value handling and display of VALUE# message like in Excel.)

    • Fix: Column label mismatch between the label and Computed Column menu when editing the column label via the 'Label edit' feature under the column header.
    • Fix: Column label not updating correctly when modifying the label in the Insert Computed Column screen.
    • Fix: A failure occurs when changing a column label in which a computed column is based. Changing a column label now updates all impacted formulas on the report.
  • Fix: Formula fails if the formula calls on itself. Added a recursive formula check that does not allow the user to add a recursive formula.

Bug Fixes and Enhancements

  • (Report) Fixed: Not scrolling to the end of the report status display during the running of a report. The issue is also causing a runtime problem in some environments. Not scrolling to the end of the status log display during processing.
  • (Report) Change: Changed the subtotals to default to 'none' to reduce noise on the report. The reports defaults summary columns are the only columns that are something other than 'none'.
  • (Report) Fixed: Not sorting using report defaults. Example, Account Listing should be sorted by Accounts. It now sorts and displays the sort marker on column that is sorted.
  • (Report) Fixed: Color issues for Detailed & Pivot report. Negative & Positive numbers not showing correctly.
  • (Report) Fixed: Excel export causing "Too many different cell formats" error for large reports. The fix included reusing cell styles rather than creating new ones each time. This fix will also reduce memory when running a report.
  • (Report) Fixed: Pivot currency coloring broke after major structural change in previous release.
